Black History Museum of Canada an interactive, educational website
This new interactive museum is the result of a 2009 roundtable meeting in Ottawa attended by Canadian black cultural associations to promote and preserve black history in Canada.
Visitors can view photos, exhibits and videos on the site, hear musicians and explore 360-degree treatments of significant monuments and heritage locations as they tour the virtual building.
A sneak peak:
Toronto's St. Lawrence Market prominent in Canadian Black History
In 1851, black leaders from Canada, the U.S. and the Caribbean met in this Toronto building to talk about what could be done to end slavery and help freedom seekers. During a three-day conference called the North American Convention of Colored Freemen, they discussed the American Fugitive Slave Law of 1850 and other issues. That law allowed the U.S. to arrest and imprison escaped slaves and even free African-Americans.
St. Lawrence Hall was rebuilt in 1850 after a fire destroyed the previous building.

Revolution in Africa; Ghana has what the oppressed are seeking
South Africa, Ghana, Benin, Mali, Botswana; ALL can help
From the days of Kwame Nkrumah to the era of Nelson Mandela, African democracy and human rights movements have propelled the planet forward, and this aptitude has never been more apparent than in revolutionary 2011.
Nations with progressive emerging democracies, and particularly those with a strong free press tradition such as Ghana, can provide elements of inspiration and education for brand new democracies such as Tunisia and Egypt. In addition to looking to other African countries (South Africa and Ghana can lead here) for advice on establishing free and fair elections, I also encourage new and emerging African democracies to seek out democracy development partners in places such as Canada and the Caribbean, specifically Jamaica and Trinidad.
North African Youth to the World: "Let's end fake democracies!"
People want freedom and dignity everywhere on this spinning ball of blue, green and brown fun; In 2011, North African youth are telling the Earth's citizens, "NO MORE rigged elections!!!"

Efo Kojo Mawugbe calls for Ghana Government to support "live" arts and culture
Efo Kojo Mawugbe, Executive Director of the National Theatre of Ghana, has called on government to make Ghana's culture more attractive by positively projecting it as a living identity of the state.
He said culture is currently perceived from a taxidermy approach, making it look unreal or dead and unattractive to the people and even tourism. Efo Mawugbe who was addressing participants at the 62nd Annual New Year School and Conference on Tuesday said developing the cultural minds of the people alongside other development processes was important to build their cultural confidence and make create a total sense of belonging. Speaking under the topic: "Youth, Culture and Development", he said the youth needed to be guided to become responsible agents of change and there was the need to boost their confidence and liberate them from fear of the bondage of an indigenous and unsafe origin that is perceived by others as outmoded.
He said there was also the need to carefully modernise some cultural aspects of the various traditions without removing important aspects of wisdom and values to make them more attractive to the youth and other nationals.

People Get Ready by Curtis Mayfield
One of the great soul songs of all time, People Get Ready was also the foundation for the Bob Marley song One Love, on which Bob rightfully credited Curtis with the co-write.
People Get Ready
Lyrics by Curtis Mayfield
People get ready, there's a train comin'
You don't need no baggage, you just get on board
All you need is faith to hear the diesels hummin'
You don't need no ticket you just thank the lord
People get ready, there's a train to Jordan
Picking up passengers coast to coast
Faith is the key, open the doors and board them
There's hope for all among those loved the most
There ain't no room for the hopeless sinner whom would hurt all mankind
Just to save his own
Have pity on those whose chances grow thinner
For there is no hiding place against the kingdoms throne
People get ready there's a train comin'
You don't need no baggage, just get on board
All you need is faith to hear the diesels hummin'
You don't need no ticket, just thank the lord
