South Africa, Ghana, Benin, Mali, Botswana; ALL can help
From the days of Kwame Nkrumah to the era of Nelson Mandela, African democracy and human rights movements have propelled the planet forward, and this aptitude has never been more apparent than in revolutionary 2011.
Nations with progressive emerging democracies, and particularly those with a strong free press tradition such as Ghana, can provide elements of inspiration and education for brand new democracies such as Tunisia and Egypt. In addition to looking to other African countries (South Africa and Ghana can lead here) for advice on establishing free and fair elections, I also encourage new and emerging African democracies to seek out democracy development partners in places such as Canada and the Caribbean, specifically Jamaica and Trinidad.
North African Youth to the World: "Let's end fake democracies!"
People want freedom and dignity everywhere on this spinning ball of blue, green and brown fun; In 2011, North African youth are telling the Earth's citizens, "NO MORE rigged elections!!!"
